November 2021
A wellness vacation can be a starting point for a healthier lifestyle, which is what everyone wants right now. Organic Spa Media (OSM) launched Wellness Travel University (WTU) this fall to provide travel advisors with a rich curriculum that will elevate their level of expertise on the nuts, bolts and beyond when it comes to wellness travel.
We are thrilled to introduce our monthly Wellness Travel Newsletter, a curated bulletin with travel ideas along with wellness trends and tips. Read more at www.organicspamagazine.com, sign up for a specialized certification course at www.wellnesstraveluniversity.com and please send your feedback to marketing@organicspamagazine.com.
Until next month, we are sending well wishes from the team at Wellness Travel University!
Why Go On a Wellness Retreat?
Do you need some fresh ideas for coaxing clients into a wellness vacation? This article explains why wellness retreats are the most rewarding gifts that people can give themselves. It also offers examples of questions you can ask your clients that will determine whether they are prime candidates for a wellness vacation, along with a list of the health benefits of such trips.
Southern Charm
While the American South is an area that doesn’t get a lot of attention as a spa destination, the region is full of outstanding healing resorts. Here are some of our recommendations for some soothing Southern getaways.
Post-COVID Wellness Retreats
Using the term “wellness travel” irresponsibly can brush the industry writ large with a black smear. That’s why it’s important to understand whether a resort or destination is merely “wellness washing” or is genuinely walking the walk. This becomes especially relevant in an era when post-COVID recovery programs (including those for long-COVID sufferers) are popping up all over the map.
Mental Health Tips
Every month, we will be delivering mental health tips from experts. For November, we’ve grabbed a handful (or headful) that seem especially relevant to travel advisors and their clients, courtesy of Mental Health America.
Set up a getaway. It could be camping with friends or a trip to the tropics. The act of planning a vacation and having something to look forward to can boost your overall happiness for up to 8 weeks! OSM recommends a trip with a fitness program to get clients moving.
Experiment with a new recipe, write a poem, paint or try a Pinterest project. OSM recommends discovering a new destination as well.
Go off the grid. Leave your smart phone at home for a day and disconnect from constant emails, alerts and other interruptions. OSM suggests you recommend your clients do the same for at least one day of their vacations.
Take 30 minutes to go for a nature walk. It could be a stroll through a park, or a hike in the woods. Research shows that being in nature can increase energy levels, reduce depression and boost well-being. OSM recommends adding forest bathing to itineraries planned for wellness-minded walkers.
